Osborn Playground

Formerly an asphalt ballfield, Osborn Playground is adjacent to Kappa V school in Brownsville. Early outreach to school administrators and students allowed us to involve them as key stakeholders in determining the direction of the design.

Through the artful deployment of rain gardens and the synthetic turf covering a massive stormwater retention system, this park serves to provide recreation value, repair historic inequity, and increase resiliency in the face of two of the larger threats of

climate change in this community: heavy rainfall and devastating heat.
